Why should children under the age of 3 be banned from using screens?

Screens may be doing more harm to our children than we think. Why stop them before the age of three?

In the digital age, children being exposed to screens at an early age has become a serious problem. The report sent to the President on April 30, 2024 addressed the risks posed by high connections from childhood.

The data shows the urgency of controlling screen use in order to protect the health and development of children under the age of three.

Sleep, obesity and myopia
Experts have identified several risks associated with early screening. First, the impact of screens on children’s sleep is significant, as they affect their ability to fall asleep and stay asleep.

It also encourages a sedentary lifestyle by sitting in front of their face for long periods of time, which contributes to increased childhood obesity. Overexposure can also lead to children developing myopia.

The impact on mental health
Another significant risk is social media, which can be accessed through screens and increase stress and depression in children who are already struggling. The report also warns that children’s exposure to inappropriate content, such as pornography and violence, is particularly dangerous.

In light of these findings, experts recommend banning screen use for children under the age of three altogether. They agree that children between the ages of three and six have few restrictions, are supervised by an adult and can only access content that has educational value.

These measures aim to regain control of children’s digital space and protect them from the malicious actions of technology companies that use their knowledge to influence screens.
